About the Bike Tour
The Heritage Explorer Bike Tour and Festival is a fun, non-competitive, family-friendly event that features the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail. Hosted by the Lackawanna Heritage Valley National and State Heritage Area (LHV), the Bike Tour travels through 17 municipalities on a combination of rail-trails and neighborhood streets. This amazing effort is due to the cooperation and partnership of community officials, first responders, local residents, Bike Tour sponsors, and volunteers. Last year, more than 450 people of all ages participated in the event!

Routes
The Bike Tour offers riders a choice of four out-and-back routes of 5, 11, 22, and 44 miles beginning at Mellow Park in Peckville, Pennsylvania. Click here for complete route descriptions and start times. The Bike Tour also offers the "Blakely Lokie Bike Rally" for young riders 10 years and under. The Rally features fun, interactive activities for the kids that encourage bike safety and good bike handling techniques.

Preparing for the Bike Tour
Whether you are riding 5 or 44 miles, enjoying the Bike Tour is all about preparation. Learn more about how to get yourself, your family and friends, and your bikes ready before you arrive at Mellow Park on June 16th.

Volunteers
Be part of the enthusiastic team that welcomes cyclists and their families to the Heritage Explorer Bike Tour and Festival! We will need more than 150 volunteers to make the day run smoothly. Find out more about how to volunteer.

Refunds
The Bike Tour will run rain or shine. All sales are final. There are no refunds or transfers on registrations. However, if you would like to officially withdraw your entry, LHV will convert your fee to a donation to support our non-profit mission. We will send you a receipt that you may use to claim a tax deduction. Please contact April Rogato, LHV Executive Assistant, at arogato@LHVA.org or (570) 963-6730 ext. 8200 if you are interested in this option.

Food
Registered riders and volunteers are entitled to a complimentary continental breakfast, water and snacks at the Station Stops, and a voucher for lunch at the Festival. All other food and beverages offered at the Festival are on a cash basis.

Dog Policy
We love our dogs, but we love our riders, too! Dogs get excited about bicycles and present a very serious safety hazard for riders. Please leave your pet at home. Dogs are not allowed in Mellow Park, and they are strongly discouraged along the Bike Tour route during the event. Please feel free to enjoy the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail with your pet another day.
